In 1988 Eric graduated from New York University with an MA in studio art. The following summer, with an inheritance from his Aunt Ruth,
who had sent him National Geographic Magazine throughout his formative years, he went to
Paris with the idea of staying as long as he could. He stayed for about a month or until the money ran out, came back and moved to Brooklyn.
But he had become enamored with all things French, and began his research and
subsequent paintings of Le Dessert du Retz, Parc Monceau, and other follies of the ancient regieme, and finally Cimetière du Père Lachaise.
